The Women's Political Association has said it is "very concerned" about the future of the education system in Ireland, particularly in view of proposed legislation on education boards of management and employment equality.

At a meeting in Dublin last night on sectarianism in education, Ms Karen Higgins of the WPA said that if public money was being used to fund schools then they should not be under the control of any one church.
