A woman in her twenties has been arrested by Gardaí in connection with the death of a man in an apparent stabbing in Dundalk.

A 28-year-old woman also suffered what appeared to be stab wounds to the neck. She is said to be in a stable condition in Louth Co Hospital.

The man, believed to be in his early thirties, was found by an ambulance team at a house in Slieve Rowe Crescent, Muirhevnamore at 2 a.m. and pronounced dead at the scene.

A post-mortem examination of the man is being carried out by State pathologist, Dr John Harbison.
