An elderly woman suffered cuts to her face when she was held down by a gang of intruders who ransacked her Belfast home during an aggravated burglary, police said today.

Four masked men forced their way into the 73-year-old's Glen Road home at around 10pm last night.

While two held the woman down, their accomplices ransacked the house before they left empty-handed.

Police appealed for witnesses, or anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area, to contact them.

The pensioner was treated for cuts to her face and bruised wrists.
