Gardaí in Dublin are seeking the public's assistance in tracing witnesses to a road traffic incident which occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The incident happened at the junction of Elm Mount Road and the Malahide Road, in Clontarf at about 4.20am.

A 26-year-old male pedestrian suffered serious injury when he was struck by a small dark coloured vehicle which failed to stop.

The injured man was taken to Beaumont Hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

Anyone who witnessed the collision, or who has any information which may assist gardaí in their investigation, are asked to contact Clontarf Garda station on 01 6664800.
