THE wife of murdered Dublin chip shop owner, Mr Franco Sacco, last night appeared at a special sitting of Dublin District Court charged with the killing.

Mrs Anna Maria Sacco (20) was brought before the court shortly before 10 p.m. after being questioned by detectives.

The Italian woman, who wore a sports top, brown cords and runners, sat staring at the floor during the brief hearing.

She had arrived at the Bridewell Garda Station in a Garda car about an hour before appearing in court.

Det Insp E.M. McLoughlin, of Tallaght Garda station, told the court that Ms Sacco was accused at 6.15 last night at Sundrive Road Garda station of the murder of her husband. In reply, she told gardai she had nothing to say. Ms Sacco is charged that on March 20th at Coolamber Park, Templeogue, she murdered Mr Franco Sacco.

Mr Dermot O'Neill, solicitor for Mrs Sacco, told Judge Joseph Mangan that an affidavit would be signed by the defendant after the hearing requesting a High Court granting of bail.

Mrs Sacco's parents, Orna and Luigi, were in court during the hearing.

The defendant was remanded in custody to appear before Rathfarnham District Court tomorrow.
