Gardaí have named the man who died from injuries sustained during an attack in Wicklow on Friday night.

John O’Brien (22) from Delgany died as a result of injuries sustained in a violent assault, a post mortem examination has revealed.

His body was discovered just before midnight on Friday on Farrenkelly Road, Charlesland, Greystones. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 22 year old man remains in custody in relation to the incident. He is being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1884 at Bray Garda station.

Gardaí want to speak to anyone who was in the vicinity of Farranakelly Road between 11pm and midnight on Friday.
