Buffalo roam the plains of Macroom, Co Cork, believe it or not, and you can buy mozzarella, ricotta, butter, cream cheese and yoghurt made with their milk at Toby Simmonds and Jenny-Rose Clarke’s Toons Bridge Dairy farm shop.
Next Friday, September 28th, a cafe will open in the creamery garden selling locally produced food, organic wine and sherry, and good coffee.
It will open only on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays (11am-6pm), when Simmonds’ sister company, The Real Olive Co, springs into action at farmers’ markets all over the country, leaving the creamery peaceful.
As well as buffalo-milk products, the farm shop sells Real Olive Co Mediterranean foods including olives, olive oils, cured meats, pesto and sun-dried tomatoes, and local artisan products such as Coolea cheese and De Roiste puddings.
