An emergency water supply was set up by Limerick Corporation in the Corbally area yesterday morning after petrol was found to have contaminated the mains system in parts of the suburb.

Mr Seamus O'Sullivan, the Limerick Corporation engineer said that "a very slight petrol residue had occurred in the system". He warned residents not to use water for cooking or drinking.
