The Mid-Western Regional Hospital in Limerick has imposed visiting restrictions due to an outbreak of the winter vomiting virus.

In a statement issued today the HSE said seven cases have been reported in three different wards. Strict precautions are now in place and visitors are being asked to contact the hospital before visits.

Hospital outpatient daycare services and routine hospital admissions are not affected.
