Arsenal midfielder Patrick Vieira says that, contrary to media reports at the weekend, he has not signed a new contract with the club.
"Contrary to the article in Sunday's News of the WorldI have not actually signed a new contract with Arsenal yet," the French international told the club's website.
"However, negotiations are going well, improving all the time and I am very hopeful things will be sorted out by the start of the season.
"I would like to make it clear that I did not do an interview with the News of the Worldand I will make any announcement regarding my future through Arsenal Football Club."
In May the 27-year-old said he would be happy to commit himself to another four or five years with Arsenal if he was satisfied with the contract. He has another year to run on his existing deal.
