Washington - The United States will review by Monday the temporary closure of its embassies in six African countries to determine if the closings should be extended for security reasons, State Department spokesman Mr James Rubin said yesterday.

The embassy closings in Gambia, Liberia, Togo, Madagascar, Namibia and Senegal were announced late on Thursday after officials said they believed that "suspicious individuals" had placed them under surveillance.
