US official resigns post

Washington - Mr Victor Reis, assistant US Secretary of Energy for Defence Programmes, has resigned his post. Mr Reis, who oversees nuclear weapons development, is one of the officials at the centre of the controversy involving allegations that China stole American nuclear secrets. The Washington Post on Saturday quoted US officials as saying Mr Reis resigned because of disagreements with the Energy Secretary, Mr Bill Richardson.
