An elderly Englishman living in west Cork who is wanted by the US authorities for his alleged involvement in a $26 million fraud yesterday won a victory in his court battle against extradition.

Mr Justice Kearns ruled in the High Court that there was no corresponding offence in Irish law for the "wire fraud" for which the extradition of Mr Albert John Oldbridge was sought. The case now goes back to the District Court which had asked the High Court to decide whether there was correspondence of offences.
