Unionists could demonstrate their true commitment to elections by accepting that future elections to Westminster should be held by a form of proportional representation, former SDLP chairman Mr Mark Durkan has urged.
Mr Durkan said if unionists were truly interested in new elections to ensure all parties had proper mandates, they should also agree to abandon the "first past the post" system of elections to Westminster.
