UCD honours three lecturers

The president of University College Dublin, Dr Art Cosgrove, has made awards to three lecturers for the quality of their teaching at the university.

Candidates for the awards are nominated by their colleagues, by their students or on their own nomination.

Their applications are assessed by a committee of staff, students and an external assessor.

Those who received awards for their work during the 199899 academic year were Ms Maria-Rosario Hernandez, of the Spanish deparment; Dr John Mooney, of the management information systems department; and Dr Mark Richardson, civil engineering department.

A special award was made to Mr Frixos Joannides, civil engineering department, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to university education over many years.
