Bottom club UCD held Cork City to a draw at Belfield this afternoon as manager Paul Doolin continues to be linked with the vacancy at Drogheda United.

Cork, who lost leading goalscorer John O'Flynn with suspected ligament damage in the fourth minute, were looking for a win to keep the pressure of leaders Shelbourne but went behind to a Mark Rooney strike on 20 minutes.

The visitors were reduced to 10 men before the break when Derek Coughlan saw red for a professional foul but Pat Dolan's rallied in the second half and Kevin Doyle grabbed an equaliser on 51 minutes.

The result keeps City in fourth place while, despite the point, UCD remain rooted to the bottom of the table.

UCD: O'Neill; Donnelly, McNally, McDonnell, McAuley; J. Martin, Sullivan, Cawley, Ryan; Rooney, Griffin.

Cork City: Devine; Horgan, Coughlan, D. Murray, Woods; Doyle, CT O'Brien, O' Halloran, Casey; O'Callaghan, O'Flynn

Referee: P. Tuite
