A five-year-old girl and her three-year-old brother whose bodies were found in a house in north Wales were killed by asphyxiation, police said today.

Their father (35) has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

A police spokeswoman denied reports that Caitlin and Aidan Samuel had drowned in a bathtub.

They died on Sunday evening in the small town of Bodelwyddan. Officers were called to their house in Coronation Close by an occupant and arrived shortly before 11pm.

The children were taken to hospital where they were pronounced dead less than an hour later. Their father was arrested shortly afterwards.
