Two men are recovering in hospital in Belfast today following what police described as "paramilitary-style" attacks overnight.

A man (29) was shot once in his lower leg in an entrance close to Mount Vernon Park in the Shore Road area of north Belfast. It is believed he was attacked at about 5.15 a.m.

A second man (33) was wounded in a thigh in a shooting in Benmore Drive in the Finaghy area on the outskirts of south Belfast at about 10 p.m. last night.

There were no arrests in either incident.
