Two men escape from courthouse in North

A murderer was on the run in Co Down last night after staging a break-out from the cells of a Downpatrick courthouse.

A murderer was on the run in Co Down last night after staging a break-out from the cells of a Downpatrick courthouse.

David Albert Taggart (21) was one of two men who escaped from the courthouse on English Street in the town shortly before they were due to appear in court. The other was Mr Ian Carlin (31).

Taggart with an address at Moira, Co Down, is awaiting sentence for the murder of a pensioner in Belfast, but he was due to appear in Downpatrick on motoring offences when he escaped.
