Two men were recovering today in Dublin hospitals after separate shootings in the city overnight.
In the first incident at about 8pm last night in the north inner city, a man was shot in the chest after he was targeted in Coburn Street, off Amien Street.
He was admitted to the Mater Hospital where his condition was described as serious.
Detectives in Store Street have appealed to anyone with information about the attack to come forward and help their investigation.
Gardai were also called to the Phibsboro area following reports of gunfire in Annamoe Parade off the New Cabra Road last night.
When they arrived at the scene, they found bloodstains and bullet casings but no victim.
However the Dublin Fire Brigade and Ambulance Service took a man from the area to the James Connolly Memorial Hospital with a wound to upper body and shoulder.
He was later transferred to Beaumont Hospital where he is still being treated.
