Two men are being questioned in connection with the seizure of two firearms in Co Wicklow.

Two men are being questioned in connection with the seizure of two firearms in Co Wicklow.

The men, aged 36 and 52, were arrested after gardaí uncovered a machine gun, a handgun and a quantity of ammunition during the search of a van in Baltinglass on Wednesday evening.

Both men are being held at Baltinglass Garda station under section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.

In a separate incident yesterday, gardaí recovered two rifles and a quantity of ammunition in a laneway in Tallaght in Dublin.

The rifles are believed to have been stolen from a house in Co Wexford last year. Nobody has been arrested in relation to the recovery of the rifles, gardaí said.
