Two men were arrested in Derry today for questioning about a fire at a hotel that killed a fireman nine days ago.

Two men were arrested in Derry today for questioning about a fire at a hotel that killed a fireman nine days ago.

The men, both in in their thirties, are being questioned by police in Limavady, Co Derry, about the fire at the Goatees House Hotel nine days ago.

Firefighter Joe McCloskey (50) became the first officer to die on duty in almost 10 years in the North after he suffered extensive burns.

The father of five fell through the roof of a store while tackling the fire and died the next day in hospital.

Police said immediately after the fire they thought it was suspicious and later branded its cause as malicious.
