Gardaí in Dublin arrested two men after recovering a firearm and a quantity of ammunition following a search of a car in Dublin last night.
The discovery was made shortly after 7.30pm yesterday when gardaí from Organised Crime Unit and Garda National Drugs Unit, assisted by the Emergency Response Unit, stopped a vehicle on the N7 near Rathcoole.
A handgun and more than 100 rounds of ammunition were seized.
The two men, both in their late 30s, are being held at Clondalkin Garda station under Section 30 Offences Against the State Act.
