Two gardaí were injured during the attempted robbery of a Dublin off licence last night.

Two gardaí were injured during the attempted robbery of a Dublin off licence last night.

The officers, who were in the back office of the premises, confronted two men who threatened staff with a handgun and a screwdriver. The incident happened at 9.20 p.m. on St Alban’s Road, Dublin 8.

One of the officers had to receive three stitches for a head wound and the other received a hand wound during the struggle.

Two men aged 19 and 21 were arrested and are being held in Kevin Street Garda station under Sectin 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
