Turkey has proposed a meeting of officials from Turkey, Greece and the two ethnic communities of divided Cyprus under UN auspices to look for ways of reviving the Cyprus peace process.

"We propose a high-level meeting [to] . . . be convened no later than May/June 2006," Turkish Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul said in a news conference convened to map out Turkey's views on how to push the process forward.

Cyprus peace talks have been stalled since majority Greek Cypriots overwhelmingly rejected a UN plan to reunite the Mediterranean island in a 2004 referendum.
