A 27-year-old man has died in a crash on the M50 motorway in north Dublin.

A 27-year-old man has died in a crash on the M50 motorway in north Dublin.

He driving a truck which overturned on a slip road at the northbound M1 interchange near the airport at about 6.10am. There were no other vehicles involved.

A specialist crane was called in to lift the articulated lorry off the busy road.

A Garda spokesman said the scene has been examined by Garda forensic collision investigators.

AA Roadwatch said the road is not expected to be reopened until 6pm and urged motorists heading northbound on the motorway towards the Port Tunnel or Drumcondra to use the old M1/M50.

It said traffic on the M50 was moving well in both directions despite the disruption.
