Imrali - Soldiers had to move in when violent courtroom protests erupted yesterday during the treason trial of the Kurdish rebel leader, Mr Abdullah Ocalan.

The protests started when Mr Ocalan's defence lawyers asked for relatives of Kurdistan Workers' Party rebels killed in the conflict to be admitted as co-plaintiffs, as in the case of relatives of Turkish troop victims.
