The Spanish crew of a British-registered trawler was rescued early today after it got into difficulties about 160 miles off the Galway coast.

The crew of 18 was taken on board another Spanish trawler after their vessel began taking in water. Its engine room was reported to be flooded.

An Irish Marine Emergency Services helicopter from Shannon and a Nimrod aircraft from Scotland both went to the scene.
