Iarnrod Eireann is to examine how a commuter train drove through level-crossing gates in west Dublin yesterday. A spokesman last night said no one was injured but it was "a serious incident". The 2 p.m.

Arrow train from Connolly Station to Maynooth hit the level-crossing gates at Barberstown, west of Clonsilla, at around 2.15pm. Mr Seamus Ross, who owns land close to the gates, said it was the second such incident in 2 1/2 years and it was fortunate no serious accident had been caused.
