A two-year-old boy who was critically injured this morning after falling from a fourth floor apartment window in Dublin has died in hospital.

Gardaí said emergency services were alerted just after 10am when the toddler fell froma block in  The Tramyards in Inchicore, Dublin 8.

The child, whose family is understood to orginally be from Brazil, was taken to Crumlin Children’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead this afternoon.

It is understood the boy’s mother was the only other person in the apartment when he fell and landed at a sloped entrance of an underground car park.

Gardaí, who are treating the incident as a "tragic accident" are appealing for witnesses, or anyone with information relating to the incident, to come forward.
