Three artists have been shortlisted for the Tony O'Malley award for painters, worth £2,000 to the winner. They are: Mary Lohan, who is based in Dublin; Belfast-born Eamon O'Kane; and Simon R.
English, a Liverpudlian based in Cork. The annual award was set up to honour Mr O'Malley, who is one of Ireland's finest living painters.
The winner will be announced in Kilkenny next Wednesday.
