A Scotland Yard spokeswoman said police were called to the Chessington World of Adventures park, southwest of London, by ambulance workers who said three people had inhaled an unidentified gas and were suffering some discomfort.

"We think it could possibly be CS gas but are awaiting confirmation," she said. The injured were being treated at the scene but their condition was not life-threatening.

She said the gas was believed to have been set off by someone waiting in a queue for one of the rides. No arrests had been made.
