Samples were sent to the testing laboratory in Pirbright on Wednesday but the Department of Agriculture are not treating the case as a "hot suspect".

Results from samples taken from sheep at a farm in Co Cork are expected tomorrow or Wednesday.

Meanwhile, a number of sites, including Newgrange, are due to re-open tomorrow as restrictions are gradually lifted.

The only case of foot-and-mouth discovered in the State was over five weeks ago.
