Telia records euro 105m loss on Eircom

Swedish telecom company Telia said today it recorded a loss of euro 105 million on the sale of its stake in Eircom.

Swedish telecom company Telia said today it recorded a loss of euro 105 million on the sale of its stake in Eircom.

"The loss is not listed separately in the company's second-quarter report released today but forms part of the 966 million kroner (euro 105 million) loss attributed to Comsource/Eircom," said Telia investor relations manager Mr Tobias Lenner.

Telia also made a euro 34 million loss in the second quarter on the sale of the Vodafone shares it sold for 378 million in June.

"We sold our Eircell stake for Vodafone shares. However, during the lock-up period, the value of the Vodafone shares went down, so the book value of the Vodafone shares was higher than their actual value when we sold them," said Mr Lenner.
