Tax defaulters settle with Revenue to tune of €130m

A list of 180 tax defaulters who reached a settlement with the Revenue Commissioners was published this afternoon.

A list of 180 tax defaulters who reached a settlement with the Revenue Commissioners was published this afternoon.

The list shows that holders of bogus non-resident accounts made settlements amounting to slightly less than €130 million.

Castleblayney country and western singer Tom McBride, known as Big Tom, reached a €100,000 settlement.

The largest settlement was made by an insurance broker from Fermoy in Co Cork. Mr Charles J McCarthy settled for €6.4 million.

James Callery, a company director from Co Roscommon reached a settlement of €1.9 million while John Sullivan Jnr from Gort settled for just over €1 million.
