More than 800 patients concerned that their X-rays may not have been reported by a consultant radiologist at Tallaght hospital called the hospital’s helpline yesterday.
The hospital said last night it was dealing with approximately 100 calls an hour. It said 823 patients called yesterday and 206 were called back.
"The first return call was made to patients by the CEO-designate Prof Kevin Conlon at 10.45am and we anticipate that patients will receive confirmation of their situation within a 24- to 48-hour period," the hospital said in a statement.
A second helpline has now also been established. The helpline numbers are 1800 283059 and 1800 283293. They are open from 8am to 8pm.
