Mr Paul McCaffrey (18), a student, from Ireton Street, Belfast, was charged in Belfast Magistrates' Court with possessing ecstasy tablets and cannabis resin with intent to supply.
A prosecuting lawyer asked for a remand in custody but Mr Denis Maloney, defending, applied for bail so that Mr McCaffrey could sit an A Level exam today.
The magistrate, Mr Paul Copeland, remanded Mr McCaffrey in custody until June 3rd.
