Two large Dublin hospitals, the Mater and St Vincent’s University Hospital, have agreed to come together under a joint governance structure from January 2013.
The new structure will facilitate rapid and effective transfer of research ideas into clinical practice across the two hospital sites.
Earlier this year it was announced that Dublin’s Beaumont and Connolly hospitals were also to be merged. The plan was to have one board running both hospitals by the end of 2011.
