LONDON - The British government faced criticism from its own backbenchers yesterday over plans to target the educational achievements of ethnic minorities. The Education Minister, Ms Cheryl Gillan, announced an action plan - hailed by teachers' leaders as a policy U-turn - after a report by school inspectors declared that "colour blind" school policies were filling some groups.
