A solicitor has been suspended from practising by the High Court after the Law Society brought proceedings against him because he had no insurance.

Daniel J Coleman, of Coleman and Co Solicitors, Main Street, Ballinrobe, Mayo, had undertaken not to practise for the last week after the High Court heard he disputed the society’s bid to suspend him over lack of insurance. The society was also concerned about allegations of serious fraud within his office.

The Supreme Court had ruled on Friday that all matters could be dealt with by the High Court. Yesterday, the president of the High Court, Mr Justice Nicholas Kearns, ordered Mr Coleman be suspended.
