European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana said today he will meet Iran's chief nuclear negotiator on Saturday for talks about the country's nuclear programme.

"I have said two days, and two days means Saturday," Mr Solana, in Denmark for talks with Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen, told reporters.

Mr Ali Larijani, Iran's negotiator, said in Madrid today he would meet Mr Solana in two days, but did not say where the talks would take place.

The Solana-Larijani meeting was originally planned for Vienna yesterday but was postponed at the last minute, EU diplomats said
