Sinclair too expensive, says Thompson

Liverpool caretaker manager Phil Thompson has claimed West Ham want "silly" money for Trevor Sinclair.

Liverpool caretaker manager Phil Thompson has claimed West Ham want "silly" money for Trevor Sinclair.

The Anfield club have been linked with the England winger since last summer but will not be doing business at the reported £10 million sterling asking price.

Sinclair has been on the Upton Park transfer list for much of the campaign and insists he wants to move to a club that will be playing in Europe.

Thompson said: "Trevor Sinclair is a player we have looked at for a long time. He's one of a number of players we keep our eye on and one who has been in our thinking.

"But the money West Ham want makes him a player who is not on our list. We have to spend money wisely, and I think at the price West Ham want, that's silly - he's not on our list because of that".
