Karen Shinkins booked her place in the 400 metres semi-finals with a seasons best run at the World Championships in Edmonton.
Running in the fifth and final heat, Shinkins finished third in a time of 51.37 seconds to earn automatic qualification. The run was easily her best run of the season and just 0.2 of a second off her personal best.
Shinkins took part in the fastest heat with Germany’s Grit Beuer posting a time of 50.71 seconds. Both semi-finals will take place tomorrow evening.
