LONDON - Australian pianist David Helfgott (50), whose story is told in the film Shine, went to the top of the British classical music charts yesterday with the only record he ever made. The pianist, who spent years in psychiatric institutions, topped the Australian charts for five months and is also number one in the US with his recording of Rachmaninov's difficult Third Piano Concerto.
