Israeli Prime Minister Mr Ariel Sharon is planning to put his plan of an Israeli military withdrawal from the Palestinian Gaza Strip to a vote of members of his right-wing Likud Party, according to reports.

Mr Sharon made the decision under pressure from party leaders to put the plan to a vote of Likud's 200,000 members once he returns from a mid-April visit to Washington, Israel Radio reported.

Many Likud members oppose giving up any land Israel seized in the 1967 Middle East War.
