A woman charged with criminal damage to a US Navy 737 plane in Shannon Airport was remanded on continuing bailat Tulla District Court today.

Ms Mary Kelly (50), with an address at the now defunct peace camp at Shannon Airport, was charged on January 29th after being arrested at Shannon Airport earlier that day.

She was sent to jail after failing to meet bail conditions which ordered her to provide €5,000 of her own surety, surrender her passport and leave Co Clare. However, she signed the bail conditions earlier in this week and was released from Limerick Prison.

The court heard that the 737 aircraft suffered damage to its nose, its hydraulic lines and its front wheel after allegedly being struck repeatedly with a hatchet.

She was remanded to appear before the court again on March 7th.
