SF man says UDA have his personal details

A Sinn Féin councillor's personal details are in the hands of the UDA, it was claimed today.

A Sinn Féin councillor's personal details are in the hands of the UDA, it was claimed today.

Cllr Michael Browne said he was informed by the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) that the details were found of a computer disk after a raid on a house in Carrickfergus last week.

"This discovery is a reminder of the threat the UDA continues to pose to members of the nationalist community," said the West Belfast representative.

"This organisation has been responsible for a sectarian campaign against Catholics which in a two-year period has seen young Catholics murdered, others seriously injured and Catholic families driven from their homes in interface areas," he said.

Mr Browne urged nationalists to remain vigilant to the threat posed by the paramilitary group.

A PSNI spokesman said he could not discuss threats made to particular individuals but that: "Where we are aware of a threat, we make every effort to make them aware of it".
