The 32 County Sovereignty Movement has criticised Sinn Fein for its failure to condemn the recent abductions of republicans.

A former IRA prisoner, Mr Paddy Fox, said he believed the Provisional IRA were behind his abduction in Monaghan town on Sunday morning.

He is not a member of the 32 County Sovereignty Movement but has spoken out against the Good Friday Agreement.

Last month a Dundalk man was also abducted by a gang of men. The 32 County Sovereignty Movement said Mr Leo Johnson is a supporter but not a member of the movement and that he is just one of up to two dozen people who have been approached or threatened by Provisionals in recent weeks.

The spokesman claimed that republicans who have withdrawn support from Sinn Fein and the Belfast Agreement have had threatening telephone calls, and some have been approached on the street and questioned about their decision.
