A small jet plane with seven people on board crashed into an industrial building north of Boston today, killing several and injuring others, emergency service officials said.
The crash occurred at 9.35 a.m. (3.35 p.m. Irish time) in the town of Leominster as the plane hit the one-storey building that contained a sheet metal workshop, said deputy fire chief Mr William Ashton.
"There were seven occupants. Two have been hospitalised and there are fatalities at the scene," Mr Ashton said, adding that it was too early to give a precise death toll.
It was not immediately clear if the crash occurred during take off or landing, and the causes have yet to be identified. The impacted building was in line with the approach route for a nearby airport strip.
