HONG KONG - Security is being tightened in China's southern city of Shenzhen, bordering Hong Kong, ahead of the British colony's return to Chinese rule next month, local television reported yesterday.

China's one child policy is also being strictly enforced there, according to the report, with some families sending their younger children to stay with relatives in other provinces until they feel it is safe to return to avoid a fine of up to 95,000 yuan (£7,600).
